Yew & Stone is a small, local business based in Chagford, Devon specialising in gentle, conservation-led care of memorial stone. I use non-invasive methods that protect the natural character of the stone, including its ageing and delicate surface growth. My approach follows UK heritage best practices, in line with Historic England guidance and conservation principles like "do no harm," minimal "less-is-more" intervention, and reversibility. The goal isn't to make headstone look like new, but to slow erosion, stabilise their state, and preserve history, inscriptions and character for generations to come.
